The EQ 51 is a replica of the equalizer section of the 83010 console section of the NEVE 51 series
The equalizer EQ 51 is a 4-band type with mid 1 and mid 2 peaking and low and high bands peaking or shelving. Each band has adjustable frequencies and cut/ boost. The frequency bands are overlapping and the cut/boost range is ±17dBs. Low and high bands have a Q factor of 0.72 and mid 1 and mid 2 have a Q factor of 2.
Frequency controls: one per band, marked 31.5Hz - 315Hz; 200Hz - 2kHz ;
0.8 kHz -8 kHz ; 1.6 kHz - 16 kHz. Set band center frequencies.
Boost/Cut controls: one per band, marked LOW, MID 1, MID 2, HIGH. Set band boost or cut over range +l7dB.
Low shape Button: When out, low band response is bell shaped. When in,lowband response is shelving.
Hi shape Button: when out, high band response is bell shaped. When in,high band response is shelving.
IN Button: when out , EQ is bypassed. When in, EQ is inserted in the signal path.
CH button: Allows the equalizer to be inserted into the audio path of a PRE81 preamplifier
In Channel mode, the module slot behaves in the same way as when the EQ is not activated.
The input stage is connected directly to the output stage, allowing the EQ51
in two places, depending on whether the (CH) button is pressed or not.
